Todd Anderson runs for Roseville School Board

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

The following information was submitted by the candidate.

Greetings to all my fellow residents of Independent School District 623. My name is Todd Anderson, and I am a candidate for Roseville Area School Board.

When I became involved in a leadership role with last year's successful levy referendum campaign, I saw first hand the special relationship that exists between our schools and the community. It was a wonderful experience, and it left me wanting to do more. This is just one reason why I am a candidate for Roseville Area School Board.

Another is that my daughter will be entering Brimhall Elementary in the fall of 2008, and I want to be on the board when we are discussing her future and the future of all of her friends.

Lastly, I am concerned with the leadership and experience void that will occur once our two veterans officially retire from the board. They should be commended for their hard work and service to our

school district, and I greatly admire their passion for making our schools the best that they can be. Because of my past and present experience within the community and school district, I'll be able to step into that void, and hit the ground running.

When I ran four years ago, my top priority was to make sure that we didn't cut programs that helped kids succeed. I wasn't successful in the election that time around, but I have continued my dedication and focus on education.

My family and I have since been active in ECFE and other programs. I've also learned much about the school district while serving on the district's Legislative Action Committee. Even though I am no longer an active member of the committee, experiences such as lobbying in St. Paul will serve myself and the school board well, as I work with our area legislators on critical education issues and how they effect our district.

My top priority if elected will be student achievement. I will be very protective of programs and innovations, like Fairview Alternative High School, that help students achieve.

I also want to strive to increase already good parental and

community involvement. One way to achieve this is to better the

communication between the school board and parents, through our existing PTA's and PTSA's. Lastly, I want to help the school district maintain its strong fiscal management. I hope you will give me the opportunity to serve the school district and make our community schools the best that they can be.
